Open Data Albania is exploring on the number of Public Procurement procedures and the limit fund announced from 61 local government units, municipalities, following the new administrative territorial division. This research article is based on data released from the portal database on Transparent Procurement. This portal contains information on every public procurement procedure for 61 new local government units from July 2015 and onwards.

It turns out that during this period, a total of one thousand two hundred and ninety procedures were announced with a limit fund of 11.92 billion ALL (new). Each of these public procurement procedures is listed in Tender column of Transparent Procurement portal. Tirana Municipality is one of the municipalities with the highest value of the limit fund for procurements during this period. Tirana municipality has announced 129 tenders with a value of 2.28 billion ALL. It is followed by Durres municipality with 50 procedures and a limit fund amount of 931.79 million ALL.

Fier Municipality is ranked the third by the value of the limit fund. This municipality has announced 59 tenders, but with a limit fund of 899.85 million ALL. Municipalities of Korça, Saranda, Berat, Divjaka, Gjirokastra, Kavaja and Librazhd are in the list of 10 municipalities with the highest limit fund that was tendered.

Ten municipalities with the smallest amounts of the limit fund announced for tenders are Ura Vajgurore, Mirdita, Përrenjas, Delvina, Libohova, Fushë-Arrëz, Pogradec, Tepelena, Dropull, Memaliaj and Pustec.

This portal intends that all data concerning tender procedures and public contracts concluded from the sixty-one municipalities in the country are transparent and easily obtainable. According to research filters, these procurements can be categorized by type of the contract finalizing the tender such as Public Works (investments), Supply of Goods (purchases), and Services etc. Categorization according to the number of participants in the competition and evaluation of the difference between the limit fund and the value of the winning bid may be probably made for each tender.

An updated information is also provided with regard to the number of participants in the race, the winner according to the bid, the status of the project, the deadline of the contract implementation and payment of any contract by treasury transactions. AIS organization is the implementer of this project. This organization is a promoter of Open Data Albania.
