Open Data Albania is updating data on the dynamics of bank deposits, both demand and time deposits in the Republic of Albania in 2015. Demand deposits are considered those deposits, where natural or legal persons can hold their money and are able to withdraw them at any time. While term deposits are those deposits, where for the money deposited a certain maturity term is pre-determined.

In 2015, ALL 153.5 billion are deposited without term to maturity and ALL 339.6 billion are deposited with a predetermined term to maturity. So, time deposits during this year were twice as high as demand deposits.

In a long stretch of time, demand deposits recorded an annual growth in the years 2009 to 2015. Previous to this period, deposits suffered significant fluctuations, primarily due to the existence of pyramidal schemes or the perception of citizens towards the banking system. This was also testified by the fact that during 1993-2015, the situation was largely in favor of term deposits.
