Open Data Albania is updating the data regarding the operation of Television Media in the country. The research highlights the number of licenses by category held by television media and the commercial entities who own these screens. The data used in the analyses was obtained from the Audiovisual Media Authority AMA and the National Recording Center NKR. In Albania, televisions are categorized based on the way of distribution of the signal and respective coverage of the territory. The categories are: Audiovisual entities equipped with a private national audiovisual broadcasting license and Private analog audiovisual entities.

Private National Televisions that currently operate are Tv Klan, Top Channel, Media Vizion, Digitalb and ADTN. Klan Television (J71413001L), the Trading Company started its activities in 1997. The capital of the Company has increased significantly since its establishment and currently (October 2022) marks a capital of 1.449 billion Lek. The company has two shareholders, namely Mr. Aleksandër Frangaj owning 60 percent of the shares and Mrs. Alba Gina owning 40 percent.

Top Channel Television (K12007002U) started its activity 4 years later than TV Klan and currently, has a share of 1.035 billion Lek capital, owned by five non-majority shareholders with respectively 20 percent each. The five shareholders are the legal heirs of Mr. Dritan Hoxha, ex founder of the Company.

Media Vizion (K01414003D) ose Vizion + was founded in 2000 and its three shareholders each own a third of the capital, which currently amounts to 353 million Lek.

Digitalb (K41719004D) is another nationally licensed audiovisual media founded in 2004 with an initial capital of 800,000 euros. Today Digitalb has a capital of 230 million lek which is owned by six subject partners and six individual partners.

Digitalb is also the sole partner of the fifth national operator in Albania, ADTN (L62121006Q).

There are forty-five private analogue audiovisual televisions in Albania, three of them are unregistered commercial entities. From the data obtained in the extracts published at the National Registration Center, seven analog televisions operate as a Natural Person, six televisions have not filed the necessary information with the NKR, two televisions have suspended their activity and one of them has been placed under conservative seizure and had his license suspended by the AMA, specifically AGONSET, the company that owns the Agon Channel broadcasting license.
