On January 31st, AIS organized a Conference entitled “Oversight of Public Finances – The Role of Parliament in the Fiscal Autonomy of the Local Government Units in Albania“.
This event was held within the framework of the project “Increasing Parliament’s Responsiveness to Citizens’ Concerns”, supported by the British Embassy in Tirana and implemented by a consortium led by IDM in partnership with Citizens Channel and AIS.

Objective: At this event, through the presentation of the Policy Paper, we aim to highlight key findings and provide recommendations regarding the Parliament’s role and its collaboration with institutions or other civil actors to enhance the processes for drafting, consulting, and monitoring laws that impact local fiscal autonomy.
Additionally, the discussions aim to foster a platform for debate and exchange of ideas among high-level representatives from the Parliament, Constitutional Institutions, Ministry of Finance, Civil Society, and the Media.
