The employment statistics give the number and characteristics of the labor force in a country. The labor force includes employed and unemployed adults who possess the ability to work.

Open Data Albania has conducted a research work on the employment figures in Albania by gender, based on datasets provided by INSTAT (Albanian Institute of Statistics) and the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. The employment rate by gender is calculated as the percentage of employed male and female to the total number of adults belonging to the labor force.

As it can be seen from the graph, the percentage of employed men has been continually higher than the percentage of employed women. In 2009, about 64.3% of the males and 43.6% of the females have been employed. In 2007, a significant increase of about 9% of the number of employed women can be noted.
