The level of employment in economic enterprises has changed with a growing trend during the three years. Enterprises with 1-4 employees have had an increase in the number of employees almost constant during the two intervals, 5.72% in 2008 and 5.16% in 2009. Enterprises with 4-19 employees have shown increasing rates in number of employees with 8.69% in 2008 and 9.14% in 2009. While companies with 20 employees and above have shown slow growth rates in number of employees, with a difference of 8.94% in 2008 and 3.63% in 2009.

Although enterprises with 1-4 employees occupy 91% of the total enterprises, their part in employment is smaller (39%) compared to enterprises with over 20 employees which have the major share of employment in enterprises (45%). In 2009 the sector of enterprises with 20 employees and above had a poor performance compared to 2008, which is reflected in lowered rates of growth in employees number.
