Open date Albania has conducted a research on the performance of tuberculosis disease in Albania in comparison with the region. The report is based on World Bank data.

Bank interest on this disease has been to conclude  the performance, treatments and  to know whether the objectives of reducing the number of persons affected by this disease are reached. Another  reason is  the fact that tuberculosis is an indicator of welfare and the diseases  shows the level of health services.Tuberculosis is a  disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The disease occurs more often in the lungs, but can also occur in other body organs, such as lymph nodes, the bones, genital and urinary organs, internal organs, central nervous system, skin, or even as general infection.

Starting from 2000 we can see a trend of tuberculosis disease in Albania.

As  we can see from the table, indicator of tuberculosis disease has been steadily declining, reaching a minimum in 2009, with 14 cases of disease per 100,000 people. This is a positive trend, but that should be compared with the countries of the region, to create a better idea of the situation. Compared with the region, Albania ranked second lowest (has lower index), regarding the incidence of tuberculosis disease after Greece. Precisely the regions in 2010, have the following indicators:

One other important aspect is the success  treatment and healing of these diseases. Concretely, in Albania tuberculosis treatment success rate follows:

We can conclude that the success of treating the disease has been high. Formerly one of the most problematic incurable diseases,  nowadays tuberculosis is treated through mass vaccination reducing highly the  mortality.
