As  we can see from the table, the Albanian Republic  has consistently hosted foreign refugees. Years with the highest number of refugees in the Republic of Albania are respectively 1996 with 4925 and 1998 with 22,332 individuals. These years coincide with the flows of citizens from Kosovo because of the ethnic discrimination and the situation created by the military conflicts in the territory of the former Yugoslavia.
