Open Data Albania has analyzed Albania’s imports by country of origin during the years 2010-2012. The report is based on data published from INSTAT (Albanian Institute of Statistics). Imports represent the monetary value of all goods/services purchased/carried out from the other countries. Ranked by value, the main source of Albania’s imports remains Italy (32% in 2012), followed by Greece (9%), Germany (6%), Turkey (6%) and Serbia and Montenegro (5%).

According to the data, imports from Italy represent around 32% of the total. Also data show a significant decrease in imports from Greece. Other countries (which represent the other countries in the top ten import sources) have been staying almost constant by weight during 2010-2012.

During 2011, the biggest increase in imports has been from Switzerland (95%), while during 2012 the biggest increase has been from Russia (28%). Also the biggest decrease of imports in 2011 and 2012 has been from Greece (-8% and -13%). In table format the change in imports in percentage year over year is presented below:

By continents, Europe is the main source of imports (84%), followed by Asia (14%), America (4%), and Africa (1%). These weights have been almost constant in the last two years.
