Open Data Albania has updated the data regarding  the funding of CEC from the  government budget for the years 2012 and 2013. The Central Election Commission (CEC) is the institution responsible for the administrations of elections in Albania. It is financed by the state budget and is an independent institution by the Central Government. Its funding from the budget varies depending whether it is an election year or not.

CEC accomplishes its activities through two programs: “Planning, Management and Administration” and “General and Local Elections”.

In 2013, according to planned budget, CEC is funded to the total value of 723 milion lek.This represents the highest amount ever planned in 10 years. The program “Planning, Management and Administration” will be supported with 123 million Lek while “General and Local Elections” to the amount of 600 million Lek.

The highest amount allocated for “Planning, Management and Administration” was in 2008, a year which preceds the election year of 2009. In the case of the program “General and Local Elections” the amount of 600 million is the same for the last 3 electoral years.

Referring to the total amount allocated for CEC in a ten year period, and also taking into consideration the consolidated budget, it is evident that the highest level of support is on the last three electoral years with an upward overall trend from the year 2009 to the year 2013. Thus, from 695 milion in 2009, the amount increased at 702 milion in 2011 followed by 723 milion in 2013.
