The Democratic Party – 2009 Electoral Funds and Expenses

The Democratic Party of Albania is one of the parliamentary political parties competing in the 2009 Parliamentary Elections. DP has submitted for auditing comprehensive balance sheets of its collected and spent funds after the completion of the election process. The electoral finances of this political party consist in public and non-public funds and also in the electoral subject?s own funds.

During the 2009 electoral campaign, DP has spent 157,054,067 Leks. Total collected funds amount to 150,219,437 Leks, and the balance sheet for the 2009 electoral campaign records an excess of expenses equal to 6,834,630 Leks, or 4.35% of the total expenses.

The structure of funds benefited by the Democratic Party for the electoral campaign is fairly wide. Thus, the DP has collected for its electoral campaign a total amount of 150,219,437 Leks. Out of the total, the subject’s revenues from Public Funding in conformity with Article 87 of the Electoral Code amount to 16,573,342 Leks, or 11.03% of the total funds. In addition, the DP has collected 79,855,180 Leks through private donations (53.16%). The party has drawn on its own funds for covering the electoral campaign expenses to a considerable extent (35.81% of its total funds), for a total amount of 53,790,915 Leks.

64.74% of the donations benefited by the Democratic Party of Albania in the 2009 electoral campaign, amounting to a total of 51,704,980 Leks, originated from donors with contributions for less than 100,000 Leks; 1.22% of total donations, worth 809,875 Leks, consisted in contributions in services and goods (donations in kind). In addition, 34% of total donations originate from donors whose contributions are higher than 100,000 Leks.
