Open Data Albania is exploring regarding to the actual budget spent on prisons service in the Republic of Albania in 2012-2013 time frame. The budget includes twenty-two prisons, detention facilities and reformatory institutions, the General Directorate of Prisons and Hospital’s Prison in Tirana. This budget has to do with the value of transactions made by each institution for costs associated with food, payroll services, transportation, security, etc.

During 2012 actual total budget for all prisons of the Republic of Albania was 2,756, billion ALL, while in 2013 the budget was only 2.648 billion ALL, or about 4% less. During 2012 and 2013 it was the General Directorate of Prisons to spend more of the total costs for the prison system.

During 2013 the largest share of budget expenditures prison system is carried by the General Directorate of Prisons with 24% of the total. A significant part of the actual budget is occupied the prison of Peqin with 8% of the total and Lezha’s prison, the one of Fushe-Kruja and Tirana’s Prison no. 313 with respectively 6% respectively to the total etc.
