Open Data Albania is investigating the labor market, namely the number of persons employed in commercial banks in the years 2009-2013. The analysis aims to assess the pace of growth or contraction of the labor market in this sector. Specifically in 2009, the banking sector employed 6384 individuals. This number decreased in 2010 with 442 employees less than in the previous year. After 2010 fluctuations were marked again. In 2013, 6708 employees were employed in the banking sector, or thirty-nine less than in the previous year.

Two commercial banks that marked the highest number of employees are BKT and Raiffeisen Bank, also because of their territorial expansion.

All the commercial banks have a total of 549 branches. Year 2013?s results show that two bank branches were closed, marking the first year under analysis where we do not have banking system expansion with additional branches, in contrast, closures are marked.
