Open Data Albania has conducted a research related to the shareholders of Second Level Banks in the Republic of Albania. These shareholders may be physical or juridical persons who own shares, signed by founders as part of the bank capital. The source of data in the research is the National Registration Center (NRC) in which there are historical data extracts of the banking institutions.

Total equity of juridical persons as shareholders of Second Level Banks in Albania reaches a value of 96.9 billion ALL. Among juridical persons, the higher value of capital is owned from Pireus Bank, which is the main shareholder of Tirana Bank with 98.83% of the capital or 15.05 billion ALL of equity. This shareholder constitutes 14.5% of the total banking capital in the country and 15.5% of the total capital of companies in commercial banks.

Other companies with equity over 10 billion ALL are Çalik Financial Hizmetler A.S. of Banka Kombetare Tregtare (National Commercial Bank), Raiffeisen International Bank-Holding AG of Raiffeisen Bank, Alpha Bank of Greece of Alpha Bank. The juridical person with the lowest capital is Saudi Brothers Commerce Co of Banka e Bashkuar e Shqiperise (The United Bank of Albania) with a capital of nearly 10 million.

On May 1, 2014 there are registered 49 individual as shareholders in banks. Among these, twenty-four have foreign citizenship. Among the shareholders of the banking market ten of them are females. The individual with the largest capital is Renis Tërshana, of Credins Bank, with a capital of 27.75% of the founding capital or 1.5 billion ALL.

This capital represents 1.46% of the total capital of all banks and 23.3% of the capital owned by individuals. Alexander Pilo, also shareholder of Credins Bank capital, has a capital of 1.2 billion ALL or 21.86% of the shares. The individual with the lowest value of equity is Gjergj Bushati with a value of 7.6 million ALL.

Among female individuals with the greatest equity is Monica Milo as a Credins Bank shareholder, which owns the 4.46% of shares or 243 million ALL. All individual shareholders in Second Level Banks comprise a total capital of 6.5 billion ALL.

Of this amount, 1.6 billion ALL are owned by individuals with foreign citizenship and 4.9 billion ALL of them have Albanian citizenship. Among individuals with foreign citizenship the largest capital belongs to Jassim M. A.Al Kharafi and Fawzi M.A.Al Kharafi with respectively 439.5 million ALL each, whose capital is 27.95% of the capital owned from foreign citizens in total.
