It is characteristic that in Albania accidents occur not only on paved roads but also on gravel roads and unpaved roads. Meanwhile the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in negligence has not disclosed in how many cases the accidents were caused by the technical conditions of the road.

Weather conditions are another factor influencing the occurrence or not of accidents. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure reports that in 2013, in most cases of accidents the weather has been dry. Respectively, 1,748 road accidents happened in dry weather, other 312 accidents happened in rainy weather, in snowy weather there were 12 accidents and in 2 cases of accidents there was fog.

The period with the highest number of accidents in Albania seems to be the summer season during which the number of immigrants is higher and people travel more because of the summer season. The months that have seen more accidents in 2013 are July and August, respectively, 209 and 224 accidents occurred. While the highest number of accidents with fatal injuries is marked in June with 30 fatalities.

Even weekends are characteristic in terms of the number of accidents, so recorded accidents on a Sunday are respectively 324, of which 217 resulting in injury, 63 serious injuries and 44 fatal loss of life.

The district with more accidents occurred during 2013 is Tirana, with 649 accidents occurred, 44 of which had as consequence the death of the victim. Other districts with over 100 accidents occurred are Elbasan, Shkoder, Durres, Fier and Lushnja.
