Open Data Albania has conducted research on the process of capital growth or reduction in JSCs operating in the country. Indicators were obtained from data of historical extracts of JSC-s as deposited in the National Registration Center NRC, June 2014.

Based on the research conducted, it turns out that about 438 JSCs, or about 51% of JSCs, have performed at least once a capital increase or decrease. Growth or reduction of capital is the process of adding or dilution of the value of shareholders equity as a result of the injection of new capital; reevaluation or ascending and dilutive effects in the assets of a company. From the establishment until June 2014 there are 420 Corporations that raised their capital at least once. The total value of the capital increase, from the foundation date up to the date taken into consideration, is 3.3 billion Euro.

100 joint stock companies operating in the country have experienced capital reduction at least once. The reduced capital value of these 100 JSC from the establishment until June 2014 is 636 million euro. A significant proportion of capital increases relates to the revaluation of assets of JSCs in years and not by the injection of new capital by shareholders in these companies. From the subjects who experienced an increase or decrease of capital, only 338 JSC have experienced only capital increase; 18 JSC have experienced only capital reduction. While 82 JSC have experienced both at least once.

Companies that have a high number of capital decrease are mainly state owned JSC, which is due to restructurings that were made to these institutions. So from 8 JSC who have experienced a reduction of capital for over 4 cases, 6 of them are state owned corporation, like the Albanian Power Corporation, Albpetrol, ARMO, the Albanian Railways, Albafilm, Albtelecom etc.
