The following analysis from Open Data Albania is focused on the monthly expenses of a typical family by category of product and services in Albania for the 2007-2014 period. The data is based on survey data collected by INSTAT for the years 2007, 2009 and 2014.

Expenses for consumption include every product and service bought, to fulfill individual needs of the family unit, without taking into account investments and purchases of other equipment. The expenses by category  of products and services for a typical family in a month have been calculated based on data from surveys of 2007, 2009 and 2014 collected from INSTAT.

As is shown in the graph, most of the expenses of a family are for food and non-alcooholic beverages (44.3%), while expenses for rent and other home expenses are 10.2%. The lowest weight is for the category: restorants and hotels (3.18%).

During these years, the item food and non-alcooholic beverages has the largest decline (from 47.57% in 2007 to 44.27% in 2014), while the biggest increase has been in the rent and other home expenses (from 7.36% to 10.2%) and education (1.72% to 4.18%).
