In a country with a small and opened economy as Albania, ALL exchange rate plays an important role in the price level and the balance of payments. During 2015, EUR was exchanged with an average of ALL 139.74, USD with ALL 125.95, British Pound with ALL 192.51 and Swiss Franc with ALL 131.08.

EURO currency has recorded its highest value on July 20, 2015, when it was exchanged with ALL 141.13, and the lowest value on 20 November 2015, when it was exchanged with ALL 136.8. On the other hand, US dollar recorded its highest value on 11 March, when it was exchanged with ALL 132.79 and the lowest value on January 5, when it was exchanged with ALL 117.22.

The exchange rate of each currency has changed significantly in the twelve months of this year. So, if we compare its value on 5 January 2015 with its value on 31 December 2015, the US dollar exchange rate was increased by 7.31%, so resulting in a change of the exchange rate from ALL 117.22 to 125.79. The Swiss franc exchange rate recorded an increase of 8.87% and the British Pound an increase of 4.18%. Meanwhile, the Euro exchange rate decreased by only 1.93% against the Albanian ALL, which is a very low reduction if compared with the depreciation of the Euro against the US Dollar or other currencies in international markets.
