Democratic Party, Election Funds and Expenditures, Campaign for 2015 Local Elections

Open Data Albania is exploring on funding and expenditures made during elections campaign 2015 from the electoral entity, Democratic Party, DP. In this campaign for the local elections, the Democratic Party has been provided with a fund of ALL 81.1 million. In the financial report submitted, DP claims to have spent only 78.8 million ALL, marking so for the first time a surplus of funds of ALL 2 million.

The Democratic Party has received from the state budget funds amounting to 87.6% from its total election fund. An amount of 12.4% of the total funds, or ALL 10 million were provided by the party’s own resources. The Democratic Party has not declared that it has received funds from private donors during this elections campaign.

Compared with other election campaigns, DP has secured 43% less funds compared with the last campaign of Local Elections 2011, while compared with the parliamentary elections of 2013, 10% more funds were made available to the 2015 elections campaign.

While concerning expenditures, the Democratic Party has spent less compared with other electoral campaigns since 2009. Expenditures in 2015 campaign were 57% less compared with expenditures in past local elections, which is a great difference.

The figures are based on self-declarations and accounts submitted for audit to the Accounting Expert appointed by lot from the Central Election Commission.  Election expenditures made by electoral entities in the field during 2015 election campaign were not investigated.
