Open Data Albania is exploring on pre-tax profits of companies with a public institution (state) as a shareholder during 2012-2014. This indices indicates the net accounting profit, or loss during an exercise period previous to deduction of income tax. The data used in this research are obtained from historic extracts of Joint Stock Companies under the documentation received in the National Registration Center, NRC.

Consequently, the research made in 70 commercial companies with a public institution as the shareholder found out that during 2014 their losses amounted to ALL 19.7 billion, or Euro 141 million. During this year as well, twenty-six commercial companies recorded profits, five companies had a zero profit and 39 other companies resulted with a net accounting loss.

The Transmission System Operator TSO recorded the highest net profit in 2014, which amounted to ALL 2.3 billion, or Euros 16.7 million, while Albanian Power Corporation (KESH JSC) recorded the biggest net loss amounting to ALL 22.2 billion, or Euros 159 million.

Such companies as Iliria SHA, KRWM JSC, Students Treatment Enterprise No.3, Students Treatment JSC of Vlora and Tirana Stock Exchange JSC had a zero pre-tax profit.

Sixty-seven commercial entities with a public institution as the majority shareholder have already financial data for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2014 all these entities got together recorded a pre-tax loss of ALL 19,693,523,132, while in two previous years that is in 2012 they had a pre-tax profit of ALL 11.6 billion and ALL 11.7 billion in 2013.

This indicator has changed in all commercial entities under research. During 2012-2014, Albcontrol, Albanian Post Office and Energy Plant recorded the largest increase of pre-tax profit, while Albanian Power Corporation (KESH JSC), Water Supply and Sewerage of Tirana and the Albanian Railways recorded the largest decline.
