Open Corporates Albania<\/a> is a database created and maintained by AIS<\/a>. This database has published data about Business Companies registered from 1 January to 31 December 2019. These data and the relevant documents are easily accessed through passports disclosing their identity, scope of activity, managerial structure, owners over the years, capital values, performance and legal issues characterizing their business. Such passports link also the data on tenders <\/a>and payments made by the State Treasury<\/a> to the respective companies. This article provides aggregate data about business companies by region, and geographic location, where businesses have their headquarters. This information serves to learn about the geographical distribution and business opportunities created in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, there were 3291 (three thousand and twenty hundred and ninety-one) business companies registered in the country as shareholders companies (SHA) and companies with limited liabilities (SHPK). Tirana marks 60% of the number of companies created in 2019. There are 1896 companies established and registered in this region. These companies own 46.6% of the total share capital. The second top region is Durres with 390 business companies created, or 11.85% of the total number of companies created in the country during 2019. Vlora and Fier follow with 120 and 102 business companies each. Lezha, Shkodra, Elbasani, Kamza, and Korca or Berat are also regions with a significant number of new business companies established in 2019. In terms of the share capital, Korca has a high level of capital despite the low number of companies there. Thus, Korca, with 56 companies marks 40% of the total share capital of the business companies founded in the country during 2019. This, however, does not correspond with a good situation of injection of private capital, as this high value is a result of a state-owned company registered this year (owned by Maliq municipality) with a founding capital of 3.5 billion leks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
