In fact a carefool look would show that there are very few countries where women make up more than 52% of the overall population, e.g. Swizterland, Armenia, Belarus). On average, worldwide, in 2009 only 49.59% of the population are women. In the European Union this indicator reaches 51.16%.<br \/>Albania falls in this range as well. In 1998-2010 ratio of women vs men has been in the 49.8%-50.17% range. Over years the ratio changed and the number of women grew taking this difference to about 11,000. Women dominat the age groups 25-49 years and over 70 years. The latter shows that the lifespan of women is higher that that of men.<\/p>\n<p>Studying the age groups is important for the demographic analysis of a country. In its study Open Data Albania has considered three groups: 0-14 years, 15-64 years and over 65 years. The percentage of the 0-14 age group vs the total population decreases every year, whereas the percentage of 65 and above increases. This reflects the ageing of the popualtion which is gaining relevance in our country as well.
