Open Data Albania has conducted a research related to exports and imports by countries and the balance of trade in the years 2005-2013 in the Republic of Kosovo. The Balance of Trade measures the difference between the value of exports and imports of an economy. Exports represent the value of all goods and services sold abroad, while imports represent the value of all goods purchased or services performed by other countries. The data used in the survey were obtained from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics and Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).<\/p>\n

In the 2005-2013 time frame the best year in terms of the trade deficit seems to be year 2005 when Kosovo marks a trade deficit of 1.1 billion euros and Albania marks a value of 1.6 billion euros. In the years to come this deficit has widened further in the case of Kosovo until year 2012, reflecting the problems of the domestic economy. Later it was recorded a slight contraction in 2013, which consisted more in lower imports, because of the non-growing consume, than in higher exports.<\/p>\n
