In 2014, 6,825 people were employed in the banking system. The annual increase is only 117 more employees. Out of them 1,403 persons or 21% of the total weree employed at Raiffeisen Bank Albania, 1,287 people are employed at the National Commercial Bank, 654 at the Credins Bank, 566 at Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania and the rest in twelve other commercial banks that are actually operating in Albania.

These persons are employed in one of the 526 branches that conduct banking activities. On average nationwide one branch has about 13 employees. In 2014, the Raiffeisen Bank Albania had 90 branches marking so the greatest number of branches, followed by National Commercial Bank with 88 branches and Credins Bank with 49 branches.

During 2009-2014 the number of employees in this sector has experienced fluctuations. Namely, from 6384 employees in 2009 to 5936 employees in 2010, increasing by respectively 6710 and 6,747 employees in the next two years. In 2013 the number of employees in the Albanian banking system drops to 6708 persons , but in 2014, their number inreased into 6825 persons.

Two banks with the largest number of employees, namely Raiffeisen Bank Albania and the National Commercial Bank have followed different trends. Raiffeisen Bank Albania has significantly increased the number of employees in the years 2009-2010 with respectively 1067 employeesr more in 2010. This trend persisted in the upcoming year as well when the number of the people employed by the bank run at 1,468. In the next three years, the number of employees employed by this institution has fallen, so 1,458 employees were employed in 2012, 1,417 in 2013 and 1,403 in 2014.

For the National Commercial Bank the number of employees has followed an upward trend throughout the 2009-2014 period. The same thing happened with the branches. This bank employed each year an average number of about 87 people and 4 new branches are opened. ProCredit has reduced the number of its employes by 343 in the past three years. During this period the bank has closed 15 branches in total.
In the past three years ie 2012-2014 pretax profit of the banks is increased on average by 56% per year, while employees with only 1%.
