In this article, we are disclosing the statistics regarding the parcels of land offered for Strategic Investments in Coastal Tourism in the South Riviera. The article is based on well-structured data obtained from the Open Corporates Albania website, a platform that has created digital passports containing information on the ownership, management and operation of business companies, including the Strategic Investor and Albania 1 Euro Program Beneficiary categories. Strategic Investors acquire the status based on the relevant Law and by submitting a Business Plan to AIDA, the Albanian Investment Agency. After being awarded with the status, these companies are supported with favorable policies and investment programs. The official purpose of the Law on Strategic Investors has been to provide strong companies and increase employment. However, during the implementation phase, one doesn’t stumble upon well-known international companies that brought foreign direct investments and strengthened our industry or essential economic sectors. Most of the so-called Investors seem to be construction companies, whose intentions seem to want to take full advantage of the Law’s assistance to create touristic structures in the country. The following list and chart show the plots approved for construction to each Strategic Investor company.
