According to letter no. 4556/2, dated 30.11.2023, from the Independent Qualification Commission, in response to the Albanian Institute of Sciences’ request dated 20.11.2023, it is evident that as of 30.11.2023, the preliminary re-evaluation has concluded for 712 subjects, which accounts for 84.4% of the total 805 subjects listed in the ex-officio document.

It is projected that by 31.12.2024, the date when the constitutional mandate of the Independent Qualification Commission expires as per point 8 of article 179/b of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania, the Vetting process will be completed for 93 subjects. Among these, there are 39 women subjects and 54 men subjects categorized as judges, prosecutors, and legal assistants.

There are 93 subjects currently under reassessment, including:

  • 22 judges, comprising 18 judges from the District Courts, 2 judges from the Administrative Court of First Instance in Tirana, and 2 judges from the Court of Appeal. In terms of gender distribution, there are 10 females and 12 males.
  • 40 prosecutors at the Prosecution Offices of the District Courts in the Republic of Albania, including 8 women and 32 men.
  • 31 legal assistants at the prosecution offices and courts within the judicial system in the Republic of Albania, including 21 women and 10 men.

For each of the subjects shortlisted in the preliminary re-evaluation process, after the notification of decisions by the Independent Qualification Commission, you can access, based on the final decision of the Independent Qualification Commission for the subject, a dossier containing information and documents regarding their career, skills, integrity, and self-declarations as per the law. This includes decisions from the qualifying institutions. Additionally, in the Open Spending Albania database, you can find annual declarations of assets and private interests since the commencement of their service as magistrates within the judicial system.
